Every season is cobbler season.

The Nashville-based cobbler restaurant The Peach Cobbler Factory opened its first Louisville location at 805 Blankenbaker Parkway in Middletown on June 4. Now, two more locations are on the way.

Greg George, a company partner and "Chief of Positivity," said the restaurant will open a store in downtown Louisville at 801 W. Broadway and a store in the Highlands at 1701 Bardstown Road by mid-January 2022.

"The number one place we wanted to go was downtown because everybody has abandoned downtown," George said. "We want to serve the business community and the people in the West End who don't want to drive 40 minutes for incredible cobbler."

The new locations are part of a larger expansion that will bring up to seven cobbler locations to Louisville over the next year. Franchise agreements have also been signed for four stores in Elizabethtown and three Bardstown, Radcliff and Mount Washington.

The Peach Cobbler Factory serves 12 kinds of cobbler, three kinds of cinnamon rolls and four types of banana pudding. Each cobbler can be served with or without ice cream for $7. Of the dozen flavors of cobbler, four are peach themed with peach, mango peach, strawberry peach, cinnamon peach praline and blackberry peach options. There's also honey apple, cherry, blackberry, strawberry and sweet potato pecan, among others.

Cinnamon rolls come in classic vanilla ($6), Nutella ($6) and cobbler-stuffed style ($7) and banana puddings are original banana, Nutella banana, double-stuffed Oreo or strawberry banana ($7).

The first Louisville location "smashed it," George said. The store goes through 6,000 pounds of cobbler a month, and that's not counting the banana pudding and cinnamon rolls.

"We're talking truckloads of cobbler," he said. "We've become an online phenomenon. One location gained 22,000 fans in three weeks, and we didn't pay a dime to advertise. We didn't have to. The product sells itself."

George said his goal is to grow the brand to 1,000 locations, with 50 leases locked down by the end of the year.

Tami and Juan Edgerton began the brand as a food truck in Nashville in 2013, and it's since been featured on The Food Network and Cooking with Paula Deen. The concept began franchising three months ago and already has 30 signed area agreements.

The Peach Cobbler Factory has multiple revenue streams for a quick service dessert bar, catering, food trucks, and delivery options. The startup cost is between $65,000 and $90,000 and the startup time is 60 to 120 days.
