‘Black in Sac’ 10/28/21: Here’s your weekly list of events created by Black Sacramentans
This is the eighth week for the ‘Black in Sac’ event list, continuing to shed light on the events in Sacramento that are created, curated, or involving Sacramento’s Black creators, entrepreneurs, and organizers.

Here’s some of what’s happening in the city through the week of Oct. 28 through Nov. 3. Check out some activities and other events to attend in Sacramento.
Heal and Rebuild Collective presents: Teen Summit
Heal and Rebuild Collective’s Teen Summit continues to gather teenagers at 7000 Franklin Boulevard, suite 1000.
They meet with the youth, between the ages of 13 to 19, every Thursday, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Heal and Rebuild Collective is determined to bring teenagers together through food, music, fun, and topical discussions. Their goal is for teens to get into a space that is engaging and empowering.
This event is also sponsored by nonprofit organization, Hooked on Fishing, Not To Violence.
Tigress Mansion
Halloween weekend at Tiger, on 722 K Street, continues, with their dress up themes this week from Oct. 28 through Oct. 31.
The themes are Memes, Couples, Duos, and Pairs, and Marvel versus DC. On Sunday, Halloween day, they are having a disco party, inviting those ages 21 and up to come out in their 1970s attire and style.
Entry is free before 11 p.m. with a costume and $20 after 11 p.m. or without a costume.

Celebrity Thursdays
Celebrity Thursdays hosted by Cool Code, with music by DJ Boo is bringing a new celebrity every Thursday to The Esco Bar, located at 8275 Florin Road.
On Oct. 28, Lil Kayla will be performing live, and Ally Cocaine will be the host of the night. Hookah Booths will be available.
A Harvest Festival For Everyone
On Friday, Oct. 29, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m, A Harvest Festival For Everyone will be happening at Macedonia Baptist Church, located at 700 Benton Avenue.
There’s a free raffle to win a $150 gift card to Foot Locker.
The event is sponsored by the City of Sacramento, Roberts Family Development Center, Legacy Project, Community Pop Up, and Macedonia Baptist Church.
Erotic and Exotic Halloween
On Friday, Oct. 29, Sacramento artists Deano, Natho, and Boshy will be performing at The Royal Castle Banquet Hall, located at 5560 Palm Avenue. They will be joined by Oakland rapper, All Black.
Hosted by Cool Code, they will also have mixes by DJ Boo, DJ Kay Boso, and DJ Goofy Q. The event is presented by Triple Threat and IllCo Entertainment.
The doors will open at 10 p.m.
“The Blue Get Down: A 70s Costume Party”
The Ladies of Omega Lambda Zeta Chapter present “The Blue Get Down: A 70s Costume Party” on Friday, Oct. 29, from 8 p.m to 11 p.m, located at 1913 Del Paso Boulevard.
Presale tickets are $30 or can be purchased at the door for $35. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Omega Lambda Zeta Scholarship Fund. Tickets are available here.
The event is for ages 21 and up.
Fright Night at Esther’s Park
Fright Night at Esther’s Park will be on Oct. 29, located at 3408 3rd Avenue.
This free event from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., will feature music by DJ Boo, performances, live music, vendors, food, trick or treating, and a costume contest.
There will be a movie screen streaming clips of Halloween classic movies, music videos, and more.
Myselfeez Boutique opens second location
Myselfeez Boutique is preparing to open its second location inside the Westfield Galleria at Roseville, located at 1151 Galleria Boulevard, Suite 1203.
The grand opening for the added location is on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 10 a.m, when the mall opens.
Myselfeez Boutique is filled with photo stations where you can bring your family, kids, make it a date, or even come solo to make great memories through having a fun photo shoot.
The original location is in Old Sacramento, located at 900 2nd Street, Suite G.
Melanated Moments
On Oct. 30, at William Land Park, located at 3800 W Land Park Drive, a workshop called “Melanated Moments” will focus on healing for black and brown bodies.
The wellness workshop is from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The event is presented by Abundance Healing Nyumba Marriage & Family Corporation. Jenn Johnson is a certified personal trainer, she will be leading the first part of the event with resistance training.
The latter will be led by Melinda Penny-Washington, a Guided Meditation and Ancestral Wisdom Practitioner.

“Boolevard Trick or Treat”
On Halloween, Oct. 31, Del Paso Boulevard Partnership is hosting a trick or treat event where businesses on the boulevard will be handing out candy, treats, and other goodies to kids and families.
The event is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The starting point is at Sector 7 Salon on 701 Dixieanne Avenue. They will have designed their “Boolevard” map, featuring the businesses participating in the event.
South Sacramento Christian Center Harvest Festival
The South Sacramento Christian Center is hosting a Harvest Festival Drive-Thru event on Sunday, Oct. 31, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., located at 7710 Stockton Boulevard.
Their contactless, drive thru festival will be carnival style.
There is no RSVP required, the event is free. The games, music, food, and candy will all be at no charge to attendees. However, it is a first come, first serve event.
Parents, you and the kids, even your pre-teens, can play games at the drive up stations right from the car and win prizes to take home.
Boo Festival presented by Boss Up 916
On Sunday, Oct. 31, head out to Hagan Community Park located at 2197 Chase Drive, in Rancho Cordova.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m, enjoy good music from DJ Daan, food from local vendors and small businesses like SippinPretti, Royalty Clothing Era, and more.
There will be candy for trick or treating, as well as a costume contest.
Harvest Day Fun at Savvy
Savvy House Coffee Bar is a Black-owned coffee shop located at 9630 Bruceville Road in Elk Grove.
They are hosting Harvest Day Fun on Sunday, Oct. 31, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, where they will invite the community for coffee, cupcakes, and support other vendors around the city.
This is a kid-friendly pop up on Halloween, as an alternative to trick or treating. Kids in costumes will get a free cupcake from Sugar Coated Cupcakes.
There will also be a pumpkin painting booth. Crystel Patterson will be doing story time, reading selections from her children’s books.
Naija Boy Taco Tuesday at Ro Sham Beaux
The Naija Boy Taco Tuesday is a weekly event at Ro Sham Beaux, located at 2413 J Street.
Rasheed Amedu is bringing West African flavor to Mexican cuisine every Tuesday, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
There he will provide Naija vibes and natty wine when you dine with him on Tuesday, Oct. 26.
Faith J McKinnie Gallery presents : Gastinells
The Faith J. McKinnie Gallery is a newly opened, Black-operated contemporary art gallery in midtown, on 1610 R Street, in Rice Alley behind Device Brewing Co.
From Oct. 15 through Nov. 14, the gallery will host an exhibition showcasing the artwork and projects of Brandon Gastinell.
For Gastinell, it’s his second solo exhibition this year. With over 100 different grocery sculpture items, his work will be placed on shelves for viewers to interact with and purchase. Every piece will be available throughout the exhibition and online.
The event is free and open to the public. You can obtain free stickers, prints, and more by making a reservation online. RSVP is available through Gastinell’s website, here.
Spectra karaoke on Wednesdays at Streets Pub
Spectra is a musician, artist, and an avid fan of karaoke.
On Wednesdays, you can find her at Streets Pub, a Black-owned bar, located on 1804 J Street.
She also hosts karaoke at Faces Nightclub, located 2000 K Street, on Thursdays and Lighthouse Bar and Grill, located at W Capitol Avenue in West Sacramento, on Fridays and Saturdays.

8th Annual Making Aces Golf Tournament
ACE Mentoring Program is hosting their 8th annual Making Aces Golf Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 6, at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex on Alister MacKenzie Course, located at 3645 Fulton Avenue.
Registration is available here.
ACE helps youth of color, ages 13 to 18, graduate from high school on time and move on to their next stage in life. All proceeds from the tournament go toward programs and resources that directly benefit AffE students. ACE is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization.
Colour of Music Festival
The Colour of Music Festival is bringing its showcase to the west coast and Sacramento was selected as the lead destination for its debut from Nov. 10 through Nov. 13.
The showcase is a composition of classical masterpieces being performed by an all-Black cast of professional classical musicians, composers, and performers presenting classical masterworks, chamber, vocal, piano performances, and a literary presentation.

HBCU RoundUp
The Sacramento Chapter of the Southern University Alumni Federation (SUAF) will host their first Historical Black College and University (HBCU) RoundUp, gathering local HBCU alumni to encourage high school students to consider attending an HBCU as an option for post-secondary education.
The two-part event is geared towards high school students, but organizers say it’s open to anyone with interest in attending a HBCU. It is scheduled from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at The Officers Club, or Club Ballroom B, on 3410 Westover St.

The 5th Annual Shop: Black Friday
The Black Friday Coalition will continue to host their fifth annual: Shop Black Friday event at Florin Square, located at 2251 Florin Road.
The event encourages the city to buy Black on Friday, Nov. 26, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, from noon to 6 p.m.
Fresh Winter: Coats 4 Kids Drive
Realtor Justin Edwards has teamed up with nonprofit organization Voice of the Youth to give back to the community and provide coats for the youth this winter.
Starting at 11 a.m. on Nov. 28, coats and jackets will be handed out to the families for their children. They have many sizes and styles available.
This is a pre-registered event. So be sure to register online through their Google Form.
They want to have an abundance of jackets available for the community and are asking for your help through donations via Paypal at 1voiceoftheyouth@gmail.com.
