Black Women In The Hollywood Walk of Fame’s Class of 2024

The Hollywood Walk of Fame is about to get some fresh new names on its stars. The Walk of Fame originated in 1960 and consists of more than 2,700 stars engraved on the sidewalks along 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks of Vine Street in LA. The selection committee, which is comprised of past Walk of Fame honorees, announced their newest honorees from among hundreds of nominations. The group chose 31 prominent names in the entertainment industry to receive a star in the next year.

In a press conference Monday, Ellen K, KOST radio personality and chair of the Walk of Fame selection committee, announced the new honorees.

“The committee did an amazing job choosing these very talented people,”she said. “We can’t wait to see each honoree’s reaction as they realize that they are becoming a part of Hollywood’s history with the unveiling of their star on the world’s most famous walkway!”

Honorees are selected in six different categories. Those being motion pictures, television, live theater/live performance, radio, recording, and sports entertainment. Although the honorees were chosen, they have two years to chose a ceremony date before the opportunity expires.

Names like Gwen Stefani, Angie Martinez and more were chosen for the honor. There have been several Black women selected for the upcoming year. Here are the stars to look out for.
