The Blacklist has upped cast member Laura Sohn to series regular as FBI Agent Alina Park.

The actress only joined the show as the character on a recurring basis for the current seventh season, though it seems Park will play a much bigger role next time round.

According to TVLine, she will be promoted for season eight, having joined the bureau as a recent graduate out of Quantico. However, despite her strong credentials, Park has somewhat of a chequered past, which was recently explored in more depth.

The larger role will also mark Sohn's first series regular job, having played a number of smaller parts in other shows.

The Blacklist is currently prepping for its season seven finale, which is set to go ahead despite most TV shows being affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The NBC show was halfway through the final episode when filming was forced to stop.

The finale will incorporate the previously-shot live action footage with animated scenes completed by the cast and crew remotely.

"I hadn't yet played [him] with my son tiptoeing into the kitchen to get snacks," star James Spader recently explained of filming remotely. "But you do what you do. You turn the heat off so it wouldn't cycle, you try to remember not to run the dishwasher."

The Blacklist season 7 finale will air on NBC on Friday, May 15. In the UK, the show airs on Sky One on Thursdays at 9pm.
