According to Ukrainian sources, the sounds of explosions in Berdyansk came from the territory of the airport. Subsequently, the municipal military administration confirmed at least five hits by Ukrainian forces on Russian positions in Berdyansk.

“Russian air defenses once again demonstrated their ineffectiveness. We rejoice with you and await further details and official confirmation from the (Ukrainian) General Staff,” a statement from the city military administration read.

Explosions were also heard in Mariupol and its outskirts. Initial reports indicate strikes at multiple locations where Russian invasion forces are stationed.

Petro Andriushchenko, an advisor to the mayor of Mariupol, reported impacts at Russian-occupied facilities in Yalta and Stary Krym, causing significant disruption across several districts of Mariupol.

Furthermore, he mentioned strikes on the positions held by the invaders in Yuriivka. The Ukrainian new outlet Novosti Donbassa said that the targeted site in Yuriyivka was the Soniachny camp, where Russian military personnel were stationed. Andriushchenko reported that there were numerous wounded individuals there, with four ambulances swiftly racing towards the village of Mangush, according to his information.

The town of Urzuf also came under attack. However, Andriushchenko said that there was “no panic” there, in contrast to the situation in Yuriyivka.

In Nikolske, he said that hits were directed at a Russian-occupied building, specifically the military commissariat, which served as accommodation.

“At this moment, Russian bodies are being unloaded. Not as spectacular as in Yuriyivka, but no less effective. Just a wonderful cotton-picking day. We are still assessing the results in Mariupol. Don't switch off, more is to come,” he wrote.

The Ukrainian word “bavovna” (“cotton” in English) is a war-related neologism for a loud explosion far behind the frontline.

Meanwhile, the Russians announced that their air defense system had successfully intercepted eight targets in the sky above Mariupol. There is no evidence to support this claim.

Over the past few days, Mariupol and Berdyansk have regularly echoed to the sound of explosions.
