Do you bleed red, white and blue? Here’s how your state ranks in patriotism survey

Even though Independence Day events have been canceled in many parts of the U.S. due to the coronavirus pandemic, Americans still proudly bleed red, white and blue.

But which state takes the title of most patriotic?

WalletHub set out to answer that question with a new study: 2020’s Most Patriotic States in America. The personal finance company used 13 indicators to rank all 50 states for their patriotism, according to its website.

The company determined a state’s patriotism by analyzing its military engagement (average military enlistees per 1,000 civilian adults between 2013 and 2018, the number of veterans per 1,000 civilian adults, the number of active-duty military personnel per 100,000, and the share of the civilian adult population in military reserves) and civic engagement (share of adults who voted in the 2016 presidential election, share of adults who voted in the 2016 primary, the volunteer rate, volunteer hours per resident, etc.).

Using those criteria, WalletHub determined that the top 5 most patriotic states were New Hampshire (1), Wyoming (2), Idaho (3), Alaska (4) and Maryland (5). The 5 least patriotic states were West Virginia (46), Texas (47), California (48), New York (49) and New Jersey (50).

You might bleed red, white and blue, but what about the rest of your state? WalletHub conducted a study to find out which states have the most patriotism. Here are the rankings.
