Nov. 10—The Church of Genesis' third installment of its "Winning in Life" message series featured a speaker who not only served with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but also the United States Army.

Rocky Bleier, a Vietnam veteran and four-time Steelers Super Bowl champ, was the featured speaker in the church's message series on Sunday. Bleier's theme for the series was titled "Fighting Back."

Bleier was drafted into the Army in 1968 during his rookie year with the Steelers. While in Vietnam, Bleier tried leaping onto an enemy grenade to save his fellow soldiers, which resulted in damage to his foot and leg from the blast.

Later, Bleier received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for his heroism. He returned to the Steelers in 1970 and, after fighting through his injuries, helped his team capture its first four Super Bowl victories.

The service, and luncheon after, hosted a group of 40-some veterans who were honored for their military service. Among the honorees were locals Raymond Kirkwood and Jack Morrow.

The "Winning in Life" series is open to the public at The Church of Genesis. Those wishing to attend can register online at ww.churchofgenesis.com.
