Blind monks, billionaires and sex on the beach, we're living the dream, baby!

Welcome to The Dirt! I’m real estate reporter Kimberly Miller with the latest developments in the sizzling market.

It was a rollicking week at The Dirt with too much real estate news to even shoehorn into this newsletter so you’ll have to wait with bated breath until next week for all of it, or follow us on social media where you’ll get the freshest information and pictures of my dog 🐶.

There are new plans for the old Carefree Theater that neighbors (surprise!) still don’t like, Related Cos. announced its idea for the largest office complex in West Palm Beach, and there was this minor incident in Palm Beach where an 80-year-old millionaire threatened to shoot alleged interlopers who he says have been using his private beach as a toilet/boudoir/dog park. 💩💓🐩

Court documents excluded the most “vulgar” images of purported beach behavior but they were available on request. So, of course, as an intrepid (nosey) reporter, I requested them, and, ooh boy👀. If The Post printed those photos we’d have to change our name to Hustler and deliver newspapers in brown paper wrappers.

News flash, what happens in Palm Beach, doesn’t stay in Palm Beach. It’s ALL recorded on someone’s night vision security cam. (Message me if you want photos, but you’ll have to prove you are over the age of 21). Actually, scratch that. They are way too cringey to share.

Carefree Theater's second act poo-pooed by neighbors, again

Senior business reporter Alexandra Clough has chronicled the trials and tumult of the old Carefree Theater land for years and now has the latest in the saga, which pits a historic community against a New York real estate developer.

The project was shelved in 2021 when the future of theaters was muddied by the pandemic. With people returning to entertainment venues, the six-theater plan may make more sense to movie-goers, not so much to homeowners fearful of traffic snarls and construction damage.

Future looks bright for The Blind Monk in new location

The Blind Monk wine and tapas restaurant has been battling its landlord like carb-starved real housewives in the cracker isle on cheat day about whether it will be able to stay at The Whitney condominium on Evernia Street.

That's going to be all behind the popular watering hole soon with a move to a new location downtown. Again, Alexandra Clough has the scoop on when and where you can find the new location.

And now, what you've all be waiting for; land dispute leads to threat in Palm Beach

A stretch of beach north of The Breakers has been a source of angst and frustration for mansion owners who say their private property has been overrun by unruly beachgoers intent on sleeping in their hammocks and doing stuff in the sea oats or just out in the open when they think it's too dark for anyone to see. Oh, we see you, we see you. 😮

It all came to a head last month when an 80-year-old homeowner threatened to shoot people and yadda, yadda, yadda. But seriously it's a situation that's been simmering for two years. It's in the courts now and it could be a precedent-setter.

ICYMI; West Palm Beach is "Wall Street South" and growing taller

Just when you think the Related Cos. has had its fill of West Palm Beach, there's more and it's taller and shinier and the best thing since a recently-deceased Wellington woman sewed elastic into a fabric donut and called it a scrunchie.

Plans for the largest office complex in the city dropped last week with an ambitious completion date of 2025. If anyone can make it happen, the Related Cos. can.

Ssshhh...I could tell you if this house is for sale but then I'd have to kill you

The supply of new homes for sale in Palm Beach County has been on the climb the past couple of months, but not so in the great Town of Palm Beach where inventory is as limited as free parking spaces on the island.

Luxury real estate reporter Darrell Hofheinz expertly explains the trend in his story about a recent sale on Seagate Road.

Live lightly.
