BLISSFIELD — The Blissfield Post 325 American Legion baseball team had a strong weekend, taking its home tournament title against some strong competition.

Blissfield began the week with an 11-4 loss to the Toledo Hawks before rallying for six-straight wins, including a win against the Hawks in the final, 4-2.

After the loss in the opener, Post 325 beat Hudson Post 180, 16-1.

Blissfield won Friday's opener, 7-0, behind a complete game shutout from Kage Little (Wauseon) against the Toledo Trojans. Gabe Jones (Blissfield), Henry Smith (Blissfield) and Jack Nigh (Temperance Bedford) all hit home runs in the win.

Blissfield then beat Grand Rapids Dirty Sports, 13-12, to finish Friday and clinched a spot in the semifinals with a 9-0 win against Adrian Post 275 on Saturday. Chase Molnar (New Boston Huron) tossed a complete game shutout against Post 275.

Brenden Holland (Blissfield) came up big for Post 325 on the mound in the semifinal Sunday against Northwest Ohio as they beat the Irish, 3-2 in eight innings. Holland tossed all eight innings for Blissfield with 10 strikeouts.

Ethan Stines (Blissfield) got the win for Post 325 in the championship game against the Hawks as he went five innings with five strikeouts before Nigh closed out the game for the save.

Blissfield is now 9-3 on the season.

The Adrian Dirtbags 18-under team also made the semifinals after going 3-2 on the weekend.

The Dirtbags won Game 1 against Northwest Ohio, 4-0, behind a dominating pitching performance from Broc Shoemaker (Onsted). Shoemaker tossed 17 strikeouts and gave up two hits and one walk.

Ryan Tschirhart (Clinton) went 2-for-2 while Quinn Hiram (Onsted) hit a triple and drove in a run.

The Dirtbags split Day 2, losing to the Hawks, 15-7, and beating Dirty Sports, 10-2.

In the win, Walker Claiborne (Madison) went five innings and gave up three hits. Jacob Burns (Tecumseh) hit a 3-run home run while Tschirhart went 3-for-3 with a triple, Harrison Moore (Onsted) went 2-for-2 with a double and Camren Lackey (Vandercook Lake) hit a double.

Tschirhart took the loss on the day while adding two more hits, including a double, while Shoemaker hit a double and Lackey hit a solo home run.

Adrian beat the Trojans, 13-1, as Logan Lipinksi (Onsted) tossed four innings and struck out eight while allowing an unearned run, on one walk and two hits. Moore went 3-for-3 with a double and triple, Burns hit two doubles while Shoemaker had one double and Brody Giroux (Onsted) went 2-for-2.

In the semifinal, the Dirtbags fell to the Hawks again, 8-0. Hiram took the loss.

The Dirtbags are at the Legacy College Classic in Fowelerville Thursday when they take on 5 Tool Baseball Club out of Detroit.

Adrian Post 275 began the week with an 11-1 win against Clinton Post 176 as Miles Frank (Madison) picked up the victory.

Post 275 would fall to Northwest Ohio, 13-6, to finish Day 1 before falling to the Hawks, 9-4 on Friday and Blissfield on Saturday to finish the weekend 1-3. Adrian is now 7-4 on the season.

Clinton 176 is 1-3 after beating Dirty Sports, 4-1, and falling to the Trojans, 9-1.

Hudson is 0-5 with losses to Trojans (3-2), Irish (12-0), Dirty Sports and Blissfield.
