Leah Remini Continues Washing Scientology Off Her Skin, Has Daughter Baptized
No longer a Scientologist, Leah Remini was celebrating "#newbeginnings," at her daughter Sofia's baptism over the holiday weekend.
Remini posted a photo on Instagram of herself, her husband Angelo Pagán, and other family members gathered around 10-year-old Sofia, wearing a white baptismal dress. "A very special day for our little girl and her godparents," Remini wrote.
In a second photo, Remini and Pagán stand behind Sofia as she leans over the baptismal font.
"For the record @leahremini and I have always been Catholic!" Remini's husband wrote in his own post. "Why we waited so long to baptize Sofia! Hmmm....anyway it was a beautiful experience and our little angel is on her way to a more spiritual existence. God Bless!"
Remini has said her daughter is part of the reason why she left Scientology in the first place.
"From what I experienced and what I saw, the church becomes everything," Remini said on an episode of her TLC series Leah Remini: It's All Relative. "I didn't want [Sofia] to be raised that way. Let’s say in 10 years, if I didn’t want to be connected with the church anymore, my own daughter would be taught to disconnect from me."
Remini, who joined the Church of Scientology as a child, left the church a little more than two years ago. At the time, she said she's lost many friends because of her decision to do so. But she's still got Jennifer Lopez, so what more could a girl need?
