Are Nate Berkus and Boyfriend Jeremiah Brent Going to Be Fathers?

That’s going to be one chic nursery.

Oprah’s favorite home décor guru, Nate Berkus, and his boyfriend, fellow interior designer Jeremiah Brent, may be expecting the pitter-patter of little feet soon.

The New York Post’s Page Six reports that the couple of just a few months is “hoping to become parents soon through a surrogate mother,” and they’re keeping their fingers crossed for a baby boy. Brent, who was once Rachel Zoe’s assistant, was recently overheard at a Hollywood soiree expressing his concerns if their kid is the opposite gender, saying, “I wouldn’t know how to deal with a little girl.”

So, are Berkus and Brent expecting … or hoping to soon? Two reps for Berkus did not immediately respond to omg!’s request for clarification on the report.

If they are going to be fathers, it’s probably safe to assume the child will be raised on the west coast. In December, Berkus, 41, made the cross-country relocation from New York City to Los Angeles, where Brent is based, once his daytime show was canceled after two seasons.

Before finding happiness with Brent, Berkus suffered immeasurable heartbreak. He lost his longtime love, photographer Fernando Bengoechea, in the December 2004 tsunami when the tide ripped through the Sri Lanka resort they were staying in, and Bengoechea was swept away. Berkus was so overcome with grief, it took him months to even get out of bed.

If the baby news is true, congratulations to Nate and Jeremiah!
