A high-speed car chase involving a suspect believed to be armed and dangerous ended without incident Thursday in downtown Dallas.

The drama unfolded over the lunch hour as a red SUV led police cruisers and television news helicopters around multiple North Texas cities at speeds of 50 to 70 mph. Shortly before he surrendered, the driver even circled Dallas City Hall with officers in pursuit.

Local television stations reported the driver may have been wanted for allegedly shooting a gun at his estranged girlfriend on Wednesday. A woman, seen during the chase in the passenger seat of the SUV, was whisked away by officers when the driver finally stopped on a busy downtown street. Officers said she was not the suspect's ex-girlfriend.

CBS 11 in Dallas later reported that the suspect, 25-year-old Tenorris Duncan, was jailed on an aggravated assault charge. Police, who recovered multiple weapons from the SUV, said that additional charges are possible.
