Psy didn’t recognize Drake at the MTV Video Music Awards

Whether we like it or not, it would be hard to find someone with two eyes, ears, and bouncing feet who couldn't recognize Psy, the South Korean pop star with the snappy suits and cheesy dance moves who has exploded in popularity since his song "Gangnam Style" went viral on the web.

But it turns out that Psy himself doesn't have such an easy time pointing out some of the world's biggest music acts. Like Drake, for example. According to Psy, the Canadian "Take Care" rapper approached him at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, having seen "Gangnam Style" himself.

"I was at the VMA and I was sitting down at the chair, and someone asked me, 'Hey, how much your music video cost? Hey, who wrote the track?' I said, 'I wrote the track,' and he said, 'Oh, yeah? Wow.' But I didn't recognize who he was," Psy told XXL this week. "And then suddenly when they announced, 'The winner is Drake,' and then he stands up, and he walks away. I was like, 'Oh! Is that Drake?' So Drake asked me something and I was like, 'Who is he?' Am I nuts? So after he came back, I said, 'Oh, Drake, I'm so sorry.'"

As a humble Canadian, we hope Drake didn't take much offense to Psy's forgetfulness. But they'll most likely cross paths again, seeing as Psy recently signed with manager Scooter Braun for a North American record deal. Braun, who famously manages Ontario-born Justin Bieber, also put Psy in touch with Bieber's mentor, Usher.

"[Braun] is a really good friend of Usher so when I was in L.A., Usher called Scooter Braun and we talked on the phone," Psy told MTV News. "I asked Usher, 'Hey Usher, if we met sometime I want to teach you how to dance.' And he says 'What? Me! Me? Usher?' And he was laughing all over. 'All right, teach me sometime.'"

Psy has been a famous pop star in Korea for over a decade, but now he's finally crossed international borders with "Gangnam Style." He's already spreading his signature pony-ride dance moves to some Hollywood A-Listers, such as Ellen Degeneres, Britney Spears, Simon Cowell, and Maria Menounos. Psy even admitted that, despite years of experience as a performer, meeting Cowell and making his North American debut has brought back the nerves from his early days.

Maybe if Drake brought back his dance moves from the "HYFR" video, then Psy would be nervous in front of him, too! Or, at least know, realize who he is.
