Meet the guy who quit his job to train to break a world selfie record

To some, taking selfies is just a fun pastime, a way to entertain yourself when you are bored, but to Bhanu Prakash, it’s a very serious matter.

The 24-year-old from Hyderabad, India, has set out to break the world record for the most selfies taken in an hour. He is so dedicated that in August he quit his job as a research assistant at a hospital to train.

The competition is stiff! Arizona Cardinals star Patrick Peterson is the current world-record holder, with a staggering 1,449 selfies taken in an hour. But that number doesn’t phase Prakash. He says that his personal best is already 1,700 selfies an hour and his goal is to get to 1,800.

Setting a world record in selfies isn’t all fun and games; he has been doing hand and wrist exercises to prepare for the big day.

So why try and break a world record in selfies? Prakash says it was Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s record-breaking 105 selfies in three minutes that inspired him.

Prakash will attempt to break the world record for most selfies taken in an hour on Sept. 18. We’re rooting for you!!
