Fox News host Bill O'Reilly is known as an advocate for traditional values. He's lesser known for having written about pornographic films. No, the top-rated cable news host isn't moonlighting for Adult Video News. But he did write about a couple classic pornographic films during his student days in Boston.

The Boston Phoenix, an alternative weekly newspaper, recently unearthed a 1974 piece O'Reilly wrote on "The Devil in Miss Jones," which includes an interview with director Gerard Damiano.

The Phoenix dug through its archives after finding out that the former Boston University student acknowledged writing for the paper in his best-selling memoir, "A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity."

The budding journalist set the scene before the film started, noting the "grumous haze, caused by the blending of cigarettes and marijuana smoke, [that] hung over the room which was becoming increasingly more claustrophobic with every passing second."

O'Reilly, who also wrote about nonpornographic films, described Damiano as "the Samuel Goldwyn of hard-core pornography" and the "high priest of porno-chic." That said, O'Reilly wasn't easily impressed by the provocative filmmaker.

During a post-film Q&A session, O'Reilly wrote, Damiano offered up "the usual banalities and well rehearsed answers concerning censorship, the Supreme Court and so on, that a man in Damiano's position must constantly spew forth."

O'Reilly got some more specific answers from Damiano after they headed out for sandwiches at a Kenmore Square restaurant. O'Reilly wasn't a rookie when it came to interviewing adult film icons. In the article, he mentions speaking with Linda Lovelace — star of Damiano's classic "Deep Throat" — the previous November.

Although the Boston Phoenix piece may be surprising to some O'Reilly fans, the host has included a few racy scenes in his own work, such as the 1998 novel 'Those Who Trespass." You can listen to the author reading a few choice bits here.
