Blood drive pits red against blue, and more this week in Abilene

The Abilene Police Department and Abilene Fire & Rescue Team will be squaring off for a good cause next week, competing for support in the 11th annual Guns & Hoses Rodney Holder Memorial Blood Drive.

Blood donations will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at both the Hendrick Regional Blood Center at 1701 Pine St. and KTAB-KRBC Studios at 4510 S. 14th St.

Donors should specify which of the teams their donation will support.

Texas Cowboy Reunion

STAMFORD — The 92nd annual Texas Cowboy Reunion will continue at 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday at the Texas Cowboy Reunion rodeo grounds.

A concert featuring William Clark Green and Slade Coulter will begin at 9:30 p.m. Friday, while Giovannie and The Hired Guns and Holt Jones will perform starting at 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Dachshund Races

The annual Dachshund Races and Rescued Dog Reunion will open at 5 p.m. July 14 at the Festival Gardens at Nelson Park.

The reunion, open to all dog breeds, will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by dachshund races at 7 p.m. Racing dogs will require handlers at both the start and finish line.

'Hello, Dolly!'

A production of the musical "Hello, Dolly!" Will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Paramount Theatre, 352 Cypress St.

'True Grit'

As part of the Paramount Film Series, showings of the 1969 version of "True Grit" will be presented at 7:30 p.m. July 8-9 at the Paramount Theatre, 352 Cypress St.

'Wild Boar Cooks'

As part of the Young Audiences of Abilene's Summer Library Series, a production of "Wild Boar Cooks" will be presented at 10:45 a.m. and 3 p.m. July 12 at the Abilene Public Library, 202 Cedar St.
