Sep. 2—HIGH POINT — Blood, Sweat and Tears will headline the John Coltrane International Jazz and Blues Festival on Saturday evening at Oak Hollow Festival Park.

Chris Botti, originally scheduled to perform Saturday, will not be able to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, festival director Joe Williams said.

"While we are disappointed with the news about Chris Botti, through the notoriety of the festival and our relationships with artists over the last decade, we were able to secure Blood, Sweat & Tears," Williams said. "We've got a strong lineup this weekend and look forward to celebrating 10 years of the festival and John Coltrane."

Blood, Sweat & Tears' eponymous second album rose to the top of the charts for seven weeks in 1969 and yielded three Top 5 singles — "You've Made Me So Very Happy," "Spinning Wheel" and "And When I Die." The album received the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1970, beating out The Beatles' "Abbey Road." The album earned quadruple platinum status with sales well over 4 million units.

The Saturday lineup also will include Galactic, Kenny Latimore, Julian Vaughn, Marcus Anderson, and the Coltrane All Star Band. Sunday's lineup will feature Kurt Elling, Lakecia Benjamin, Tito Puente Jr. with special guest Melina Almodovar, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, and the High Point Coltrane All Stars.

Attendees will be required to show proof of either a COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID test result within the previous 72 hours. Face masks also are required to minimize potential exposure to COVID-19.
