Bloom-Carroll’s Andrew Marshall named Division III Ohio Defensive Player of the Year

COLUMBUS – Bloom-Carroll senior linebacker Andrew Marshall, who has been a terror all season and led the way for the Bulldogs to have their most successful season in school history, picked up a huge honor on Wednesday when the Division III All-Ohio teams were announced.

Marshall was not only named first team All-Ohio but was chosen as the state’s Division III Defensive Player of the Year, which was selected by the Ohio Prep Sports Writers Association.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Marshall had an outstanding season as he finished with 206 total tackles, including 123 solo tackles, 35 tackles for loss, seven sacks and two interceptions, all while also rushing for more than 1,000 yards and 14 touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball.

Marshall, who helped lead the Bulldogs to their fifth consecutive Mid-State League-Buckeye Division championship, as well as a Division III state runner-up finish. In the state title game against Canfield, Marshall finished with a team-leading 12 tackles. He had a career-high 21 tackles earlier in the season in a win against Jonathan Alder.

During Marshal’s four-year career, the Bulldogs played in four consecutive regional championships, two state semifinal appearances and this year’s state final as the Bulldogs finished with a 14-2 overall record.

Bloom-Carroll compiled an outstanding 47-7 overall record and a 14-4 mark in the playoffs the last four years.

Bloom-Carroll junior running back Dylan Armentrout, who broke the school’s single-season rushing record, along with junior offensive lineman Jaden Ball, were both named first team All-Ohio.

Armentrout finished the year with 2,176 yards rushing on 266 carries and 18 touchdowns and he caught 21 passes for 307 yards and two touchdowns.

Senior linebacker Chase Plantz was named third team All-Ohio and senior offensive lineman Grant Dolan earned honorable mention All-Ohio honors.
