The Jewish Democratic Council of America’s super political action committee is getting $250,000 from Mike Bloomberg to support digital outreach efforts targeting Jewish voters in Florida in support of Joe Biden.

“Jewish voters can and will make the difference in Florida in support of Joe Biden,” said former U.S. Rep. Ron Klein, chairman of the Jewish Democratic Council of America. The council estimated there are 722,000 eligible Jewish voters in Florida, which is 4.2 percent of the electorate.

The $250,000 is a sliver of the $100 million the former New York City mayor is spending in Florida on behalf of Biden.

Bloomberg plans to announce the funding Thursday.

“Every vote will matter in Florida, and Jewish voters in Florida have the chance to vote for a president who will unite us, not divide us,” Bloomberg said in a statement to the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “Joe Biden will be that president, and I’m glad to support the Jewish Democratic Council of America PAC as they reach Jewish voters online throughout the state of Florida and encourage them to vote for Joe and Kamala.”

Jewish voters overwhelmingly vote Democratic when they go to the polls, said Klein, who represented parts of Broward and Palm Beach counties from 2007 through 2010. The group’s objective is to make sure Jewish voters show up and vote.

The campaign involves digital advertising, phone banking and text banking.

President Donald Trump’s campaign and the Republican Jewish Coalition have attempted to hold down the vote for Democrats with advertising aimed at Jewish voters.

The RJC gets involved in every election presidential election in Florida. One of its most attention-grabbing efforts came in 2012, when it placed “Obama ... Oy Vey!!” billboards on Interstate 95 and Florida’s Turnpike.

The objective isn’t to win a majority of Jewish voters, RJC leaders have acknowledged. The idea is to limit the number of votes received by the Democratic candidate.
