Bloomfield Council, School Board Election: See Early Results

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Polls have closed and ballots are being counted for Tuesday’s general election in New Jersey, which took place mostly via mail due to the coronavirus.

In addition to national, state and county races, Bloomfield residents voted on candidates for the local town council and board of education.

It’s not clear when certified results will be released in Essex County. Due to the pandemic, mail-in ballots postmarked on Nov. 3 will be accepted by the clerk’s office until 8 p.m. on Nov. 10, the same day provisional ballots will be counted. The clerk has until Nov. 23 to certify the results and remit them to state officials.

BLOOMFIELD TOWN COUNCIL

In Bloomfield, there are three open seats on the Bloomfield Township Council. Each term last for three years.

Jenny Mundell (Ward 1), Nicholas Joanow (Ward 2) and Sarah Cruz (Ward 3), each ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination in their respective wards.

Here are the unofficial results as of 8:33 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Essex County Clerk’s Office:

  • Jenny Mundell - 4,634

  • Nicholas Joanow - 5,597

  • Sarah Cruz - 4,639

BLOOMFIELD SCHOOL BOARD

A total of six people are running for three seats on the Bloomfield Board of Education. Each term lasts three years. Candidates include Satenik Margaryan, Kasey Dudley, Nadeisha Greene, Jessica Salinas, Ellen Rogers and Thomas Heaney.

Here are the unofficial results as of 8:33 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Essex County Clerk’s Office:

  • Kasey Dudley - 5,855

  • Nadeisha Greene - 6,025

  • Thomas Heaney - 5,254

  • Satenik Margaryan - 4,621

  • Ellen Rogers - 5,704

  • Jessica Salinas - 6,771
