Bloomfield man, 21, dies in motorcycle crash with SUV in Glen Ridge

Authorities are investigating a Tuesday afternoon crash that killed 21-year-old Jordan Mayrant, of Bloomfield, after his motorcycle collided with an SUV near Bloomfield Avenue and High Street in Glen Ridge, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

Mayrant was taken to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead at 4:45 p.m., prosecutors said.

As of Thursday, the office had not released details regarding what caused the fatal crash, but noted that the other driver was not currently facing charges related to the incident and it remains under investigation.

Mayrant graduated from Bloomfield High School in 2019 before getting an associate's degree in engineering from Bergen Community College, according to his obituary. He loved cars, motorcycles, travel with his friends, playing video games, go-karts and obstacle climbing.
