Bloomfield restaurant Apteka named one of America’s 50 best restaurants

The New York Times on Monday released its list of the 50 best restaurants in America for 2022.

Apteka, a restaurant based in Pittsburgh’s Bloomfield neighborhood, was named to the list, which is compiled by the New York Times’ food reporters, editors and critics. The restaurant serves central and eastern European fare, including pierogis, and features a completely vegan menu. It first opened in 2016.

The New York Times commended co-chefs and co-owners Kate Lasky and Tomasz Skowronski, stating that the pair “build depth, texture and flavor with fermentation, ingenuity and cultured nut milk as lush as creme fraiche.”
