Bloomington area qualifiers ready for indoor state track meet at IU on Saturday

Eighteen relay teams and several individual qualifiers from Bloomington North, South, Edgewood and Eastern Greene have qualified for the Hoosier State Relays, Indiana's unofficial indoor state track championships.

The meet will take place on and around the 200-meter track at Indiana University's Gladstein Fieldhouse on Saturday. The Large School Meet (schools in football classes 4-6A) is first at 10 a.m. followed by the Small School Meet (1-3A) at 4 p.m. The top eight in each event will score, with points doubled for relays. Tickets for each session are $10 and available via a link at https://hsr.iatccc.org/

In the boys' Large School Meet, top-10 seeds belong to North's 3,200 relay (second), 1,600 relay (third), Distance Medley Relay (sixth) and Kyle Clark in the 3,200 (second) and South's pole vaulter Sawyer Bailey (tied for seventh).

In the girls' Large School Meet, North's Hadley Lucas is seeded second in the shot put while DeDe Eberle is and eighth seed in the 60 hurdles and a fifth seed in the long jump. The Cougars are seeded eighth in the 800 relay. South's Lily Myers is a fourth seed in the 3,200 and the Panthers are seeded sixth in the DMR and ninth in the 3,200 relay.

Eastern Greene has three relays and an individual (Esther Crane in the 3,200) qualified in the girls' Small School Meet and two relays, including the seventh seeded 1,600 relay, in the boys' meet. Roman Valentime (pole vault) and James Lewis (long jump) will also participate.
