Leonard Goldberg was quite simply irreplaceable. As a creative force, as a boss, as a friend, as a husband, and a father,” Selleck told Deadline. “His unwavering commitment to our show inspired all of us to take to heart his frequently asked question, ‘what can we do to make it better?’ Rest in peace my friend.”

Donnie Wahlberg, who plays Danny Reagan, Frank’s oldest son, called Goldberg “a friend and a mentor.”

“Thank you for believing in me, Mr. Goldberg,” Wahlberg tweeted.

On Instagram, Wahlberg posted a longer note next to the same picture of him, Goldberg and Selleck.

“Ten years ago I took a chance meeting with a TV icon, Mr Leonard Goldberg,” Wahlberg wrote. “He convinced me that I could play the son of another TV icon, Mr Tom Selleck — in Blue Bloods. 10 years, and over 200 family dinner scenes later (Mr Goldberg’s idea of course), and I’m still working my tail off every single day, hoping to live up to Mr Goldbergs faith in me…We lost a TV Giant today, and I lost a friend.”

Gregory Jbara, who has played NYPD deputy commissioner of public information Garrett Moore on Blue Bloods since 2010, linked his Facebook account to an obit on Goldberg. “It is with heavy heart I share the following sad news,” he wrote.

Nick Turturro, who has a recurring role as NYPD Sergeant Anthony Renzulli on Blue Bloods from Season 1 through Season 6, expressed his “deepest sympathy” in a tweet. “It was great getting to know you and working for you was a pleasure, class act!!!!

We’ll add more from the cast as the tributes come in.
