'Blue Bloods' Star Sami Gayle Reveals What It's Really Like Working With Bridget Moynahan

Blue Bloods has been a staple of Friday night TV since 2010, and it's safe to say the Reagan family has had its ups and downs. One actress, who joined the series when she was just 14 years old, has spoken out about her time on the show.

Sami Gayle portrayed Erin Reagan's (Bridget Moynahan) daughter, Nicky, on the first 10 seasons of the CBS drama. On the show, Nicky left New York to move to San Francisco, and the actress, who was studying at Columbia University at the time, took time to focus on her studies.

In an interview with Glitter magazine from 2020, Sami expressed what it was really like to work with her on-screen mom, Bridget. "Bridget has been like an additional mother, and I am forever indebted to her for showing me what it means to be a gracious, kind, talented, and independent woman," Sami said. "Watching her over the years has helped me to become a better actor. My favorite thing about our scenes together is that they often tackle universal, mother/daughter experiences. I always walk away having gleaned something about a situation I’ve encountered with my actual mom or with foresight as to how to deal with a situation in the future."

Showrunner Kevin Wade has addressed Sami's potential return to the show. According to Express, he said, "Hopefully she’ll swing by." He continued, "Sometimes characters age out, in the sense that Nicky went off to college and then moved to San Francisco, and I realized, 'We don’t have the real estate to tell Nicky stories.' But once it had become long enough, it was almost like, 'Well, we should bring her back at least for a family dinner, at least to meet Joe Hill.' We actually were going to do that last season, and I don’t think her schedule matched up with ours," Kevin added.

While many fans would love to see Nicky's return, it seems that Sami's schedule is filling up. The actress revealed that she'll be starring on Broadway in Andrew Lloyd Weber's new musical, Bad Cinderella, beginning in February.
