Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski is expected to miss four weeks due to a shoulder injury suffered Saturday night against the New York Islanders, the team announced Sunday.
Werenski, 22, leads Blue Jackets' defensemen in scoring with six goals and 10 assists in 26 games.
Werenski, the eighth pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, is in his fourth season, with career totals of 44 goals and 100 assists in 263 games. He agreed to a three-year, $15 million contract in the offseason.
Werenski recorded 11 goals and 33 assists in 82 games last season, adding one goal and five assists in 10 playoff games as Columbus advanced to the second round for the first time in franchise history.
