Blue Jays acquire outfielder Bradley Zimmer from Guardians for Anthony Castro
The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired outfielder Bradley Zimmer from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for right-handed reliever Anthony Castro, the team announced on Thursday.

Zimmer, a left-handed batter, hit .277 with a .669 OPS and eight home runs last year. He struck out 122 times with 30 walks over 99 games. The 29-year-old San Francisco native was a first-round pick with Cleveland in 2014 and a late pick with the Chicago Cubs three years prior.
Castro pitched in 25 major-league games in 2021, with a 4.74 ERA, 32 strikeouts, eight walks and four home runs over 24.2 innings. The 26-year-old opened the 2022 season in triple-A Buffalo.
The Blue Jays begin their much-anticipated 2022 campaign on Friday night against the Texas Rangers in Toronto.
