Blue Jays activate OF Gurriel, C Maile

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was activated off the 10-day injured list and inserted into the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the visiting New York Yankees.

The Blue Jays also activated catcher Luke Maile from the 10-day injured list, the team announced.

Gurriel, who was listed as the designated hitter and third in the lineup, has been sidelined for 30 games with a left quad strain.

The 25-year-old Gurriel sustained the Grade 1 strain in a 12-6 loss against the Yankees on Aug. 8 while legging out an infield single.

Gurriel is batting .279 with 19 home runs and 47 RBIs in 79 games this season.

The 28-year-old Maile, who has been sidelined since late July with a left oblique strain, is batting .153 with two home runs and nine RBIs in 41 games this season.
