Blue Jays Roundup: Basketball teams come home victorious

Feb. 18—WATFORD CITY — The Jamestown High School girls basketball team got back on the winning train this weekend.

The Blue Jays trounced Williston 92-41 Friday evening then turned around Saturday afternoon and picked up a 77-39 win over Watford City. The pair of wins snapped the Jays' six-game losing streak and evened their record at 10-10.

Jamestown has one game left on its schedule. The Blue Jays will host Mandan on Tuesday. The girls will tip off at 5:45 p.m. Jacoby Lloyd and the boys squad will follow at 7:45 p.m.

Ella Falk and Katie Falk accounted for 47 of Jamestown's total 77 points Saturday. No other team members hit the double-digit mark but Jada Walter came the closest with eight points. Breanna Oettle, Peyton Waliser and Rylee Joseph all scored six points. Haylie Hakanson wrapped up the Jays' scoring with four points.

After falling to Williston 73-48 on Friday night, the Blue Jay boys team rebounded and defeated Watford 73-51.

Dalton Lamp anchored the Jays' scoring in Watford with 19 points while Thomas Newman put 12 in the scorebooks. Ryan Larson was the only other team member to hit double digits with 11 points.

Landon Caldwell was the Wolves' top-scorer with 14 points.

"It was a tough weekend," JHS head basketball coach Jacoby Lloyd said. "We need to be more aggressive at both ends of the floor and handle physicality a lot better."
