Blue Jays Roundup: Golf sees its first action of the spring
May 8—After what has been, perhaps one of the longest off-seasons the Jamestown High School golf team has ever had — the Jays finally had their opportunity to walk the greens and swing the clubs Saturday.
The Blue Jays teed off at Heart River Golf Course in Dickinson and wound up placing fifth out of 10 competing teams, carding a team score of 354 — just nine strokes back of Mandan.
Jamestown will be back on the greens on Tuesday at Mandan's Prairie West Golf Course. Golfers are scheduled to tee off at 10 a.m.
Bismarck Century won the invite, notching a 310. Dylan Nosbusch of Century won the meet title, tallying a four-over-76.
Hunter Gegelman was the low-scorer for the Blue Jay squad, notching an 84 while Easton
Romsdal finished his round with an 88. Andrew Walz and Camron Anderson came in at the middle of the pack tied at 91. Luke LeFevre (110) and Kai Baken (113) rounded out the Jays top-six.

Mike Soulis and the Blue Jay softball squad had a pretty successful trip out to Minnesota this last weekend.
The squad matched up against three Minnesota prep teams: Little Falls, Bemidji and Edin Valley Watkins and defeated all three handily.
The Jays defeated Little Falls 16-0 on Friday, Bemidji 11-2, Edin Valley-Watkins 13-2 and Little Falls again 12-3 for an average margin of victory of more than 11 runs.
Jamestown's overall record has improved to 14-6 overall. The squad's next test is slated to come against Minot on Thursday in the Magic City. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
The Jamestown High School girls wrestling team held its first-ever award this last week.
The Jays had five state placers at the first-ever NDHSAA sanctioned state tournament at the Fargodome last February.
