Blue Jays Roundup: Swimming out-races Shanley, Wahpeton

Oct. 15—JAMESTOWN — Things couldn't have gone much better

for the Jamestown High School swimming and diving team Saturday.

"I am proud of our attitudes, mindset and teamwork," JHS head coach Ben Smith said. "(It was) an awesome team effort."

In a double dual Saturday, Jays defeated Fargo Shanley 127-55 and Wahpeton 142-28. Jamestown is set to host Bismarck Century in a WDA dual on Tuesday. Swimmers are set to hit the water at 5 p.m.

The Blue Jays continued its hot streak in the 200 medley relay Saturday, The combination of Allysah Larson, Jordyn Larson, Chea Baugh and Zoe Bjerke won it for the Jays with a time of 2:03.94.

Baugh didn't have much time to recover as she was set to swim in the very next event — the 200 freestyle.

If the senior was feeling tired, one couldn't tell from her performance.

Baugh won the 200 free with a time of 2:09.60, edging her teammate, Alexes Prasek, out by 0.48 seconds.

Georgia Lettenmaier had a stellar performance in the 500 freestyle, touching the wall at 5:48.46, a whole 52 seconds ahead of the second-place holder, Mia Berndt.

Smith and the rest of the Blue Jay coaching staff made the decision to run multiple swimmers and relay teams through all 12 events which only helped to increase the Jays' point totals.

All told the Jays finished first in 10 of the 12 events.
