Blue Marsh Lake recycling Christmas trees to benefit fish habitat

Dec. 27—Blue Marsh Lake has kicked off its Trees for Fishes collection.

Christmas trees dropped off through Jan. 7 will be placed in the lake along the shoreline for aquatic habitat enhancement and other wildlife habitat resources.

Drop-off locations are at the State Hill Boat Ramp, 599 Brownsville Road, Lower Heidelberg Township, and the Sheidy Boar Ramp, 5998 Bernville Road, Penn Township.

Trees must be clean of all decorations, including tinsel, fake snow and garland; paint; and chemical treatments.

Artificial trees, yard waste and tree trimmings will not be accepted.
