How successful were softball teams from the Blue Water Area this season? If five district titles and one regional championship doesn't answer that question, here's something that will.

Eight local players across two divisions were named to an All-State team by the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association earlier this week. Seven more received honorable mentions.

The Blue Water Area was particularly dominant in Division 3. Seven athletes garnered first team selections — four from Richmond, two from Algonac and one from Almont. The Muskrats and Raiders also had two honorable mentions.

In total, 15 individuals from six area schools were recognized.
