Bluefield State University receives bus donation

BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS) — Bluefield State University received a gift that is beneficial to the school.

Bluefield facing affordable housing shortage

Through the donation, a 40-passenger bus was purchased and will be used for intercollegiate sports teams. An event was held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, in the P.E. parking lot of the University for the generous donation called “Blessing of the Big Blue Bus.” Reverend Garry Moore, Bluefield State University Chancellor made comments and blessed the bus as well.

“This was a wonderful anonymous gift given for the sole purpose of blessing the Bluefield State University athletic department. Many of our vehicles are aged and require a lot of maintenance. As Dr. Deidra Guyton puts it, ‘these are our babies riding our vehicles representing BSU and they deserve the best.’ This is a new bus and we cannot thank the donor enough for her generosity. This is good news for our community as well as the university. The CIAA is one of the most prestigious HBCU conferences in America. We want our young people to be safe and represent BSU with style and grace,” said Moore.

There was also prayers of thanks and travel mercies for BSU student-athletes and coaches as well.
