Bluegrass concert featuring former members of The Hickory Project set for Wayne County

Two former members of the band The Hickory Project, Dave Cavage and Josh Sudigala, are set to perform at the Bethany Bandshell Saturday, August 20 for an evening of what is described by organizers as exceptional bluegrass with a touch of swing and jazz.

After playing together for several years in the acclaimed bluegrass band Hickory Project, they decided to branch out on their own to do a duo project. They perform classic tunes as well as original material and blazing instrumentals.

Josh Sudigala (guitar/vocals) is a young master guitarist/singer-songwriter hailing from Springville who now makes his home in Tunkhannock. He is described as at the cutting edge of today's bluegrass movement.

David Cavage (banjo/vocals) hails from the Carbondale area and is nationally known as a master of the 5-string banjo, high lonesome lead, and harmony singing. He is a songwriter as well. He also plays jazz and swing tunes on tenor guitar. Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine says, "He sounds like Bela Fleck with an attitude." Cavage has traveled all over the USA as well as abroad.

Bring a chair, blanket and your friends to enjoy this outdoor concert on the south end of the village green of historic Bethany, just three miles north of Honesdale. In case of rain, the show will be moved to the second floor of the Bethany Public Library.

The bandshell was constructed in the 1930's. In recent years it had fallen into disrepair but through a multi-year community project, the bandshell was refurbished. A dedication ceremony was held in May of 2019.
