Has BlueOval City already led to Brownsville boom?

Production isn't expected to start at Ford's BlueOval City until 2025, but the project may have already given Brownsville the economic "shot in the arm" it was looking for. Haywood County’s largest city is experiencing a boom one year after the $5.6 billion project was announced for West Tennessee. (Omer Yusuf has all the details in the story below.)

Meanwhile, in the sports world, Wednesday was a busy day for Tigers fans.

Missouri is looking to buy out its football game at Memphis for the 2023 season, Evan Barnes reports here. Missouri was scheduled to face Memphis on Sept. 23, 2023, at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium to complete its home-and-home series.

Some of the final pieces of Memphis basketball’s 2022-23 scheduling puzzle are in place as the American Athletic Conference portion of the Tigers’ schedule dropped Wednesday, Jason Munz reports in this story.

The Memphis women's basketball team also announced its schedule Wednesday. A highlight of the non-conference schedule is a road game against defending national champion South Carolina on Dec. 3. You can read more here.

And in food news, popular Memphis restaurant SOB is opening a new location in Collierville. “A lot of old regulars Downtown now have families in Collierville, so opening in this part of town seems right to us,” said Ed Cabigao, who owns the restaurant group with his wife, Brittany. “The area is growing, and we are excited to be a part of it.” Jennifer Chandler has all the details on the new location in this story.
