ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Blues Hall of Fame event over the weekend brought together some of the franchise’s biggest names, one of them being prolific scorer Brett Hull.

On Friday, Hull talked about his connection with St. Louis and noted he’s been talking it up with Sonny Gray ever since he joined the St. Louis Cardinals. Gray, last year’s AL Cy Young runner-up, joined the Cardinals on a three-year, $75 million deal this offseason.

Hull has a home in the Nashville area, and so does Gray. He says he’s been texting Sonny throughout the offseason to give him a warm welcome to St. Louis.

Got to know Sonny Gray down in Nashville, and he just signed with the Cardinals. I texted him today, and I told him, ‘Hey, I still got some connections up in St. Louis. Whatever you need, let me know.’ There’s a lot of great people who like to golf and have a great time. Hopefully, Sonny will have a great career here in St. Louis and help them get to the postseason.”

Hull scored 86 goals during the 1990-91 NHL season, third most in a single-season in league history.
