Bluey Balloon Inflated for Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

A large balloon depicting Bluey, an Australian cartoon character, was inflated in New York City on Wednesday, November 23, as part of preparations for the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Footage posted by Mayor Eric Adams gives a timelapse of the 90 minutes it took to inflate Bluey on Wednesday.

Adams wrote: “It takes about 90 minutes for Macy’s to inflate a balloon — but once they take off, it’s a sign to the world that our city is taking off.”

The parade was due to begin on West 77th Street and Central Park West at 9 am on Thursday and travel down to Macy’s flagship store on 34th Street, with 2.5 miles of public viewing along the route, Macy’s said. Credit: Mayor Eric Adams via Storyful
