Bluffton boys have strong showing in state cross country championships

Earlon Baker and the Bluffton cross country team had a strong finish in the SC High League Championships on Friday.

Baker (16:07) finished second as the Bobcats were runner-up in the Class 4A championships at Newberry College. Bluffton finished with 125 points, 12 behind champion Catawba Ridge.

Bluffton’s Cooper Anderson (16:41) was ninth, Boyd Collins (17:05) 20th and Aidan Bryant (17:39) 40th.

Hilton Head Island finished sixth with 191 points. JD Gilman (16:43) was 12th and Drake Edmonds (16:43) 14th. May River finished 12th. Noah Wasserman (16:36) was fifth to lead the Sharks.

In the girls race. Bluffton was sixth and May River was 11th. Emily Hunt (21:02) was 30th and Avonlea Hale (21:04) 31st for the Bobcats. Kaitlyn Dibert (21:09) was 33rd to lead the Sharks.

Beaufort’s Yzeult Antia (20:39) finished 13th in the Class 3A girls race.
