Bluffton football rallies to win Bridge Bowl. Whale Branch stays unbeaten

Bluffton 28, Hilton Head Island 24: Owen Bayes threw four touchdown passes, including a game-winning 63-yarder to Kyler Vick in the fourth quarter for the Bobcats come-from-behind victory.

Hilton Head led twice in the second half, the final time at 24-21 when Beau Sexson hit a field goal early in the fourth quarter. The Bobcats answered with a touchdown and then stopped the Seahawks on fourth-and short near midfield later in the quarter to win the Bridge Bowl.

Brandon Bryant had two TD catches for the Bobcats and Nate Ulmer had one.

Lucas Thibodeau returned an interception for a touchdown for HHI. Connor Weindl and Troy Timko also had TD runs.

Philip Simmons 36, Beaufort 6: KJ Asbury had two TD runs and Tavien Orellana had a TD pass to Troy Stevenson as the War Horses moved to 7-0 on the season.

Jadyn Andrews had a TD run for Beaufort.

Whale Branch 50, Bethune-Bowman 6: Keith Chisholm ran for two TDs and threw for one as the Warriors moved to 5-0. Bradford Thompson had a TD run and scored a defensive touchdown. Jermon Bowers had a TD run, pass and scored a defensive TD.

Lucy Beckham 42, May River 6: Lucy Beckham moved to 5-0 with a region win over the Sharks.

Hilton Head Christian 56, First Baptist 6: QB Dylan Clark had a big game and the Eagles scored 28 points in the first quarter on their way to a win over the Hurricanes.

Thomas Heyward 49, Dillon Christian 16: THA won its fourth straight game with a victory over the Warriors.

Beaufort Academy wins by forfeit: Beaufort Academy moved to 6-1 after Palmetto Christian forfeited the game.

Florence Christian 45, Hilton Head Prep 13: Juels Huntley rushed for 292 yards and four touchdowns in Florence Christian’s victory.

Hampton County 50, Ridgeland-Hardeeville 13: Hampton County bounced back from its first loss of the season to defeat the Jaguars.

Cardinal Newman 49, John Paul II 0: Duncan Skehan threw three TD passes, and Cortez Lane ran for two scores and caught a TD pass in the Cards’ victory.
