Thomas Bush, 37, was arrested Friday morning and charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and discharging a firearm into a vehicle while occupied. Bush is accused of firing at a parked pickup truck near his home on Shults Rd. near the MC Riley Sports Complex.

According to Sgt. Bonifacio Perez, spokesperson for the Bluffton Police Department, in the early hours of the morning, Bush was shooting from the “front yard area” of his home. There was no known prior interaction between Bush and the victim before Bush fired into the vehicle, Perez said.

The victim fled to the Parker’s Kitchen at the intersection of May River Rd. and Buck Island Rd. and called the police around 2:28 a.m.

Officers met with the victim, whose identity was not released. The onsite investigation at Parker’s revealed a “minor laceration” and did not need medical attention, Perez said.

Officers later found Bush standing in his front yard, where the arrest was made. Bush was in possession of a handgun and long gun.
