U.S. Sen. Tim Scott spoke during a GOP rally Monday in Bluffton, challenging recent claims from President Biden and urging voters to “work really hard” to create a “red tsunami” that will lead to Republicans taking the Senate during this year’s midterm elections and subsequently the White House in 2024.

Scott, R-S.C., who is seeking reelection, has represented South Carolina in the U.S. Senate since 2013, when he was appointed by then Gov. Nikki Haley to replace retiring Sen. Jim DeMint.

He reminded the audience of his story, growing up in a household ith a single mother and underperforming in school. Even as a freshman in high school failing civics, he said, he knew then Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris “don’t know now.”

“I can’t believe a word coming out of their mouths,” Scott said.

First, Scott took issue with the president’s claim that inflation was at 0% in July, saying that six months with inflation over 8% has been devastating for American families.

“When almost half of the American families have less than $1,000 in their savings account, when gas is up, still over 60%, that’s a crisis for [single parent families],” said Scott.

In August, when President Biden made the claim that inflation in July was 0%, he likely was referring to the month-to-month change from June to July, which was 0%, not the year-over-year change from July 2021 to 2022, which was 8.5%.

Scott also said President Biden said that leaving Afghanistan was a “perfect withdrawal.”

“Unbelievable,” Scott said. “We left hundreds of thousands of Afghan allies to fend for themselves, running to Iran. We left thousands of Americans without our military, and worst of all 13 American soldiers [died].”

Biden has admitted that mistakes were made in Afghanistan.

Scott also took issue with the administration’s approach to the rise in violent crime in America.

“They say crime is over,” Scott said. “So, they defund the police. If you steal $750 to $1,000 from the local Lowe’s or Home Depot, you just walk out the store and no one touches you.”

Scott said that common sense conservatives want to “refund” the police, bring back resources to law enforcement and tell them “thank you” for serving.

President Biden has said multiple times that he is opposed to defunding the police.

Scott finished his remarks by urging the attendees to call their friends and make sure everyone shows up to vote to create a “red tsunami” — one that he hopes will lead to a majority Republican control in the government.

“For us to continue the path that we are on is to continue to let the Left lead the country. I think it’s time for us to turn to the Right and go red to the roots,” Scott said. “We are going to win the House back and then we are going to let that red tsunami bring us the Senate. And in two years, It’s time for us to take the White House, too.”
