Auburn fans were shocked when Bryan Harsin pulled Bo Nix against Georgia State on Saturday.

T.J. Finley went in as the Tigers’ quarterback and helped them win the game.

Nix was not one of the players that was made available to the media after the victory Saturday but appeared on “The Next Round.”

Nix was asked if he was still the starter.

“Depending on my status, it’ll depend on this week in practice,” Nix said. “They haven’t told me anything. I felt like I played pretty good, but we still need to make big plays. Moving forward, that’s up to them. I’ll be prepared and ready to go.”

He was surprised that he was pulled.

“I was shocked,” Nix said. “I knew that the camera finds you, so I didn’t want to draw attention away from our team. I wasn’t trying to insert myself and have the attention on me. T.J. did a good job when he went in. He made plays to win the game. I’m happy for him. T.J. and I are getting closer the more we’re around each other.”

Nix handled the tough interview with a lot of maturity and poise.

“Sometimes in life, we have to answer the tough questions,” Nix explained, “I want to continue to show others and encourage others in their journey. I’m not the only one going through tough things. The Lord has great plans for everyone’s life. I’m excited to be in this position and I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. I’m going to continue to work hard. I love being at Auburn and the Lord will take care of the rest.”

The Next Round” is a daily show from 9 am-11 am every weekday.
