Board of Elections settles tied votes from November election

Nov. 30—It was numbered ping pong balls at high noon Wednesday in a public meeting in the basement of the Crawford County Courthouse.

The Crawford County Board of Elections used them to settle more than two dozen tied votes from write-ins in municipal races from the Nov. 7 election. Resolution of the tied votes was done publicly in accordance with Pennsylvania's Election Code in the courthouse's assembly room.

While winners were selected in the tied races, the winner still must accept the office, according to the Board of Elections. In Cambridge Township, there was one person who was selected for two different auditor terms.

Letters will be sent to the winners by the Crawford County Election and Voter Services Office, according to Jessalyn McFarland, the county's director of elections. Winners will have until Dec. 27 to complete and return all necessary forms.

In Linesville, the race for the fourth of four seats on borough council saw Jeff Weimer the winner. Weimer had tied with Sue Scheppelmann at four write-in votes each. In the borough's constable race, John Musser was the winner after having tied with Wade Largent at one vote each.

The other ties settled were either for auditor and/or constable races in 26 other townships or boroughs across the county. Winners, by municipality, are:

Athens Township — Barbara Makohus, 6-year auditor.

Beaver Township — John Stolesz, 6-year auditor; and David Ball II, 4-year auditor.

Bloomfield Township — Gerald Holmes, 6-year auditor.

Cambridge Township — Edward Maske, 6-year auditor; Edward Maske, 4-year auditor; and Sharon Blystone, 2-year auditor.

Conneaut Lake — Craig Tingley, constable.

Cussewago Township — Ray Snell, 2-year auditor; and Austin Nagi, constable.

East Fairfield Township — Susan Blose, 6-year auditor.

East Fallowfield Township — Kevin Kean, 2-year auditor.

Fairfield Township — John Burke, constable.

Hayfield Township — Christopher Allio, 4-year auditor; and James Campbell, constable.

North Shenango Township — Richard Campbell, constable.

Richmond Township — Edward Jackowski Jr., constable.

Rockdale Township — Marcie Beckman, 6-year auditor.

Rome Township — Heidi Gilbert, 2-year auditor.

Sadsbury Township — Joshua Millin, 6-year auditor.

South Shenango Township — Mike Richter, 6-year auditor; Mara Anderson, 4-year auditor; and Jill Livingston, 2-year auditor.
