Board to be sworn in, elect officers

Nov. 14—The Oath of Office will be administered to the recently elected Board of Trustees during the regular scheduled meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Hawkins Administrative Building.

John Hendricks garnered 60.26% percent of the votes over Ryan LeNorman who received 39.74%. For Position 5, Cathy Schweitzer ran unopposed. Hendricks fills Position 4, which was previously held by Dr. Karin Olson Williams, who opted not to seek reelection. The Board of Trustees serve three year terms.

The agenda includes a presentation on the district's proposed realignment for the 2024 school year, to be presented by the District Design 2024 Committee Members. Events for discussion and approval are the Lions Club Christmas Parade, Board of Trustee Workshop for Thursday, Dec. 7, and the regular trustee meeting for Tuesday, Dec. 19.

In accordance with the local Board Policy, the Board will re-organize by electing a President, Vice-President and Secretary.

Routine reports from staff, principals and administrators are the Discipline Report, Principal Report, 2021 Bond Project Update and the Technology Annual Report for 22-23. The Trustees will consider a request on behalf of the Huntsville Hornet Military Marching Band to travel to Washington, DC, during May 15-19, 2024, for a performance.

The Board of Trustee will consider Resolution #24-07, which requires a vote for or against the Walker County Appraisal District Board of Directors elections. On the Recognition Agenda, Cathleen Landrum/Teacher is the Educator of the Month from Mance Park Middle School (MPMS), and the Employee of the Month is Amanda McMillian from MPMS.

These are the highlights of the meeting and does not reflect the entire agenda. The Huntsville ISD Board of Trustees meet the third Thursday of each month in the Hawkins Administration Building, 441 FM 2821 East, Huntsville, Texas.
