Boater dies after being found unresponsive on Lake Winnipesaukee

A man was pronounced dead after he was found unresponsive on a boat on Lake Winnipesaukee Sunday morning.

Police identified him as Donald Longhi, 76, of Hooksett, N.H.

Longhi was on a 14-foot fishing boat that was seen operating recklessly in Alton Bay shortly after 6 a.m. Police said the boat performed a “couple of fast circles” before coming to a stop.

Another boater pulled alongside the vessel and found Longhi unresponsive. That person flagged down first responders and helped secure the boat, police said.

Longhi was taken to Concord Hospital in Laconia, where he was pronounced dead.
