Boaz man dies in two-vehicle crash in Lawrence County

A Boaz man died in a two-vehicle crash Monday in Lawrence County, according to a news release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division.

Kristopher E. Poff, 38, died at Huntsville Hospital after being critically injured in the crash, which took place at about 3:05 p.m. on Lawrence County Road 298, near Lawrence County Road 296, about 6 miles south of Hillsboro.

Poff was a passenger in a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado truck driven by Calvin D. Franklin, 52, of Hillsboro. Franklin's truck was struck by another truck, a 2003 Chevrolet S10 driven by James A. Conway, 44, of Hillsboro.

Poff was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the release, and was transported to Huntsville Hospital by helicopter.

Conway and Franklin were taken to Decatur General Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
