Bob Evans: Another Chain Restaurant Closes In Joliet

JOLIET, IL — If you drive around Joliet's busiest intersections, you can't help but notice a trend. More of Joliet's long-time national restaurant chains are closing their doors forever. In May 2019, Joliet Patch broke the news of Steak N Shake's closure on Larkin Avenue. This April, Patch reported the Boston Market on Jefferson Street had closed. Joliet's latest restaurant chain to close is the Bob Evans at Larkin Avenue and McDonough Street, right off the Interstate 80 exit.

Bob Evans has removed all its signage on the property at 1776 McDonough St., although there still is the rustic Bob Evans mailbox near the entrance doors.

Thousands of people ate at the Joliet Bob Evans over the years.

The Joliet Bob Evans had a good reputation. It showed a rating of 4.1 out of 5 stars among its 892 Google restaurant reviews. It also had more than 8,900 Facebook check-ins from customers.

"I dine in this great restaurant quite a bit!" one person posted on Google Reviews about seven months ago. "This is the best place to dine. I visit this spot regularly. The meals are very good, the staff members are professional and the charge is decent. I like going in this place for a nice dinner."

The days of eating at the Bob Evans in Joliet are over.

If you visit the Bob Evans website, the Joliet restaurant has been removed.

An online search for the nearest Bob Evans restaurant to Joliet will turn up the following addresses: Merrillville, Ind., Chesterton, Ind., Valparaiso, Ind., two restaurants in Bloomington, Ill., Peoria, Ill., Plymouth, Ind., and Benton Harbor, Mich.
