Bobbi Brown’s Favourite Things

When Bobbi Brown founded her eponymous beauty label in 1991, she combined years of expertise as a makeup artist to create a line of universally flattering products that enhances natural beauty.

It began with just 10 lipsticks and since evolved into a bellwether and one of the most globally recognised labels in the world.

When she left the brand in 2016, we waited with baited breathe for four years for her return to the makeup landscape and we weren’t disappointed when her new label Jones Road Beauty fell over our desk. The range of high-performance products put clean beauty as the utmost importance and are entirely free from silicones, sulfates and all those other 2,700 potentially harmful ingredients. They are also all designed to be multi-purpose to help you streamline your makeup bag.

We caught up with Bobbi to discuss her venture that has recently dropped on UK shores and all things beauty.

What are you up to at the moment?

I’m either spending my days in our office in New Jersey or with my family and dogs at our summer house. Jones Road is keeping me very busy— I’m so thrilled about our new launch to the UK. If only I could be there! I’ve always been a bit of an Anglophile so this is kind of a dream come true.

What is your favourite product from your new range?

Our Miracle Balm is truly magic— it works wonders on the face but also on the lips, neck and body. I even use it as eyeshadow and to smooth flyaway hairs. Au Naturel and Tawny are my personal go-tos for the perfect amount of moisture, color, and glow.

What are your beauty commandments?

Don’t microscope yourself in a mirror, look at yourself in good lighting, find your perfect moisturiser, and smile.

Can you walk us through your beauty routine?

My routine is really pretty minimal. It starts with my favorite SPF from Supergoop! (I use the Unseen formula), then the right moisturizer for my skin at the moment, either Jones Road Light Moisture Cream or Miracle Cream if I’m extra dry. I always thicken my brows with a few strokes of the Jones Road Brow Pencil and lighten dark spots (including under eye circles) with our Face Pencils. Next, I layer a couple Miracle Balm shades— usually Au Naturel all over and Tawny on my cheeks, neck and lips. A couple of coats of our uber black mascara and I’m out the door.

What beauty product do you wish you invented?

The scrunchie.

What can we look forward to next from Jones Road?

There’s so much to look forward to, we have lots of newness in the pipeline. We have monthly launches planned for the next year and even beyond. I’m so excited about our new shades of Miracle Balm— Sunkissed and Magic Hour for a perfect, healthy glow.

How do you treat yourself?

I could do a better job. I see my chiropractor weekly but could use a massage and acupuncture.

What has been your best pandemic purchase?

My puppy.
