Bobcat Boosters award scholarships

The Cambridge Bobcat Booster Club recently awarded scholarships. They include:

Kendal Kenworthy and Ty Reed
Kendal Kenworthy and Ty Reed

∎ Dustin Hill and Alan Phillips Memorial scholarships were awarded to Kendal Kenworthy and Ty Reed. Kendal is the daughter of Jason Kenworthy and Brooke Kenworthy. She will attend the University of Mount Union, where she plans to play softball an major in early childhood education with plans to become an elementary school teacher. Ty is the son of Tim and Jennifer Reed. He will attend Ohio University to major in communications with plans for a career in media production or sports broadcasting. These scholarships are awarded to students who have participated in athletics for three or more years and have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA.

Steeler Sylvis

∎ The Jared M. Matthews Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Steeler Sylvis, the son of Jim and Debby Sylvis. He will attend the University of Mount Union to major in criminal justice with a minor in business, with a goal to work for Homeland Security or an investigative field. Steeler hopes to play soccer for the Purple Raiders. This scholarship is awarded to a senior soccer player who best demonstrates passion, leadership and love for the game of soccer.

∎ The Charlie Fondale Girls Track and Field Memorial scholarships went to Josie Fabian and Nevaeh Smith. Josie is the daughter of Scott Fabian and Angela Bell and will attend Stanford University to major in aerospace engineering. She hopes to participate in cheer and dance at Stanford. Nevaeh, the daughter of Amanda Conrad, will attend Muskingum University and major in nursing. These scholarships are awarded to senior girls who have participated in track and field for at least two years and maintained a 3.0 GPA. Charlie Fondale was a beloved teacher, coach and official for Cambridge City Schools and was instrumental in securing the first all-weather track for the district among many other accomplishments. He was a member and leader of the Cambridge Bobcat Booster Club for more than 45 years.
